Our Life’s Decor

I love words.  They are probably number one on the list of things that inspire me.  I will buy a $10.00 book, long before I will buy a $10.00 item of clothing.  I gravitate to word stamp sets, jewelry with words, greeting cards with quotes, even home decor with words.

Recently, I was trying to help a friend decide what words she wanted displayed in her living room.  I asked her what it was that she wanted to communicate to everyone who walked through her door.  I thought of the messages that we all communicate through how we decorate our homes. I have plate racks that display books instead of plates and picture frames that surround quotes that I love instead of photos. I have lots of lighting and soft, beautiful pillows.  I try to have encouraging words everywhere throughout my home.  Working in this industry in particular, it is a delight to embellish my home with beautiful papers, images and words!

Then I asked myself, how am I decorating my life?  What messages do I communicate through this life I lead?  Are others encouraged by the words that I speak or the things that they see in this "home?"  I may not decorate with bright vivid colors (I prefer to blend!), but is there plenty of light to make others feel warm and comfortable?  Is it a place they want to linger or is there no comfy place to stay?  What is it that makes this "home" unique and gives it character?  There are familiar old rooms, like Abundance and I have recently added on a sun room called "Life is Too Short." There are hallways of Gratitude and a living room named "Faith." They are all part of what makes me, me.  They are how I decorate my life.

So, what about you?  How do you decorate your life? Take some time to identify what makes you, you and how you can use that to be a blessing to others!

Abundant Blessings!
