Worthwhile or Wasted Time?

I have been thinking a lot about savoring the moments and keeping it simple lately.

I went to a class a couple of weeks ago.  It was sponsored by a scrapbook store and was three hours long.  We learned how to make an 8×8 circle album, complete with slide outs and special binding. I left with a headache and an "album" that I still needed to add pictures and embellishments to.  It was not simple.  I probably will not make another one. I was not inspired.  I have not even been motivated to add the pictures and embellishments. I took that class to get away for a day (it was out of town), to learn something new and to stir my creative juices. Instead, I came home exhausted and feeling not one bit creative! Worst of all, my project was not even finished. Spare time is at a premium.  There is not a lot of it to play with, so when I have it, I want to feel good about how that time was spent.  I don’t necessarily have to do anything, or have it be productive.  I’m a total fan of the philosophy penned by Bertrand Russell… "The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time."

Fast forward one week. In 30 minutes, I covered and inked the pages of a mini chipboard book and my daughter added stanzas from a poem she had written to each page. She decorated the front, I added some book binding tape and just like that, she had a meaningful gift that she was happy to give her dad for his birthday!  What a difference!

It was a good reminder of why, at The Angel Company, we have committed ourselves to find simple and smart products and projects. We know your time is valuable. We want you to be able to use as much of it as possible to spend time with those you love and to give gifts and cards that you enjoyed creating.

So here’s to keeping it simple!  Life is too short for creativity to cause headaches!

Bookoo Blessings,

Debbie~
