I’m Not Too Busy

My sister recently gave me a book entitled, I’m Not Too Busy by Jodi Hills. I opened it up immediately to read the inside jacket. The words that were written resonated with my heart and inspired me. It says this…

"It’s a myth that time heals, or changes anything. Time heals nothing. It’s what we do with the time- it’s the choices we make in the time, the people we surround ourselves with, the life we create and share.

The love in our hearts and the hope in our minds, at any time, can heal, create, inspire, and change almost anything… you just have to take the time to realize it… appreciate the present as a gift that is given… look at yourself, and the faces of others… stop to see all the possibilities-open yourself up to this life and say, ‘I’m not too busy.’"

Receiving this book coincided with the beginning of our family gratitude journal for November. What began as an experiment last year is being done again this year to help each of us to stop and ponder and be grateful. What was posed as a challenge to my family last year, has become a challenge to myself this year. A bit sadder and less grateful than usual, gratitude is a discipline I need to exercise more than ever as we move toward the holidays. The tags filled out by my daughters and visitors to our home have encouraged my heart and blessed my days.

I continue to challenge myself to take the time, appreciate the present, endeavor to bless the people who fill my life, stop a moment, and see possibilities. I do not want to be too busy to take note of what makes my life so rich. May we be a people who take the time to create lives that are marked by gratitude and rich in love.

Slowing Down With You,

Debbie~
