Random Thoughts

OK, so random acts of kindness and "RAK Attacks" are not new subject matter to my blog.  However, I recently noticed on an unconventional calendar that February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. I don't know why things like that inspire me, but they do!  My wheels start spinning on how I can bless the most people on that day… {two weeks from today}.  Then, I laugh at myself because one of the key words is "random."  Spontaneous, haphazard, chance… random! Just the thought alone is out-of-the-box for this plan-ahead, list-a-day girl!  Half the point, is not just to be kind, but to see where the day takes you and how creative and spontaneously we can show kindness to others, including strangers. I just wanted to put that date on your radar.  I will write more about that later.

There are fifteen women in the Wednesday night class I teach at church.  We are all finding our way, exploring our creativity and focusing on God's love for us. There are probably a half dozen that I can think of that have never done anything like it in their life!  I am so proud of them for jumping in there, putting forth the extra effort that things out of our comfort zone take, and finishing the pages each week. It endears them to me. I just want to encourage and congratulate them!

I will post pictures of the pages that we've done thus far, on Monday or Tuesday.  For now, here is one of the thoughts that we talked about last night…

"Many voices ask for our attention. There is a voice that says, "Prove that you are a good person." Another says, "You'd better be ashamed of yourself." There also is a voice that says, "Nobody really cares about you," and one that says, "Be sure to become successful, popular and powerful." But underneath all these often very noisy voices is a still, small voice that says, "You are my Beloved, my favor rests on you." That's the voice we need most of all to hear."  – Henri Nouwen

Trying to listen to that still, small voice with you,
