Inspired by Angels

I have just returned from The Angel Company's annual Seminar.  It is always a great time renewing connections with Angels from across the United States, but this year there were a couple moments that were especially inspiring to me.  I thought I'd share.

The first caught me by surprise at our banquet on Friday night.  I was sitting across from a most hilarious woman named Marcia.  I don't think staff has ever laughed during a meal as much as we did that night. She has a wonderful sense of humor, complete with great facial expressions. Turning a corner in our conversation, she began to talk about praying the ABCs.  Praying the ABCs? We stopped her and asked her to explain what she meant and how she did that.  She explained that it was a great alternative to counting sheep when you can't get to sleep. She begins with 'A' and prays for someone or something that begins with each subsequent letter. Everyone at the table loved the idea! Why had we never thought of that? My wheels began spinning about creating an alphabetical  gratitude journal.  I definitely think that is how I will encourage my family to practice gratitude this Fall. That night I began praying the ABCs.  The funny thing is that I found out the next morning that the other ladies at the table had done the same thing. It was clear that Marcia had inspired everyone!

The second incident was just as unexpected, but instead of making me laugh, brought me to tears. Though embarrassed to be crying, I quickly realized that I was not the only one. Once again, many were touched and inspired. Our final event of the weekend was a Prop Swap. Each Angel who wanted to participate had made an item and wrapped it. They are then distributed randomly to others who have made something. The only rule is that you can't get the item that you made. One particular Angel's card and gift had been prayerfully written and carefully crafted. She had no idea who would receive it, but it was clearly full of love and insight.  Much to her surprise, the recipient read the card outloud. Though that was not a part of the creator's plan, it evidently WAS part of the Creator's plan. It clearly touched the hearts and spirits of many women.

There are two other Angels who went out of their way this weekend to encourage me about my writing. I was amazed at how I carried those positive comments throughout the weekend and how much they fed my soul.  I am deeply grateful for each of them. Their encouragement will probably buoy my spirits and my writing for the next three months.

These experiences were as different as they can be but showed me clearly how God can use us to inspire one another when we are simply ourselves and are willing to share what we've been given. None of the Angels I mentioned had any idea that so many would be effected by their words this weekend. It is a good reminder that what seems "ordinary" to you, may be extraordinary AND inspiring to someone else and that virtually everyone is hungry for some extra encouragement! We don't need to wait for a special event. This week look for ways that you can be an encouragement to someone else.

Gratefully inspired by you,

    Debbie,
I am a not so great angel who loves TAC but am not very active. I do, however enjoy reading your blog, drinking in your inspiration and love for the Lord.
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your love of writing with us.

Debbie you inspire me in many ways–your writings are one of the ways–but it’s your smile that melts my heart the most.
